During this unit students will understand various scientific principles that provide background information for the remainder of the Earth Science course.

Basic information about relative age, absolute age, evolution and geologic time are introduced during this unit.

Students study how various factors affect climate and the significance of the ozone layer. They also study the Greenhouse Effect.

There is a new Earth Science Reference Table as of 2010. Please be sure to download and print this table and use it with students. The students may be able to answer many questions with the use of this resource.
